Trackway Hire for Soil Investigation

Ground investigation often means taking specialist vehicles and heavy equipment into fields, development sites and remote areas long before permanent access is available. Our aluminium trackway creates stable temporary routes for drilling rigs, investigation equipment and support vehicles across soft, wet or uneven ground.

Whether you’re carrying out borehole drilling, trial pits, sampling or geotechnical surveys, we work with you to plan practical access to investigation points while helping protect the ground beneath.

You find a route, we’ll find a way.

Why soil investigation teams use Trackway

Investigation points are rarely positioned with easy vehicle access in mind. Poor ground conditions, sensitive surfaces and heavy equipment can make reaching them challenging before the investigation has even started. Our trackway gives you:

  • Access to investigation points – create temporary routes across fields, undeveloped land and difficult terrain to reach borehole, sampling and testing locations.
  • Drilling rig and specialist equipment access – provide stable routes for drilling rigs, CPT units, excavators and other specialist ground investigation equipment.
  • Ground protection – spread vehicle and machinery loads to help reduce rutting and surface damage across grassland, farmland and other sensitive areas.
  • All-weather reliability – maintain dependable access across soft or wet ground, helping prevent changing conditions from delaying investigation programmes.
  • Flexible access across multiple locations – install, reposition or extend trackway as investigation work progresses between boreholes, trial pits and testing points across the site.

Temporary Roadways

  • Stable travel routes for heavy drilling rigs, CPT units and support vehicles.
  • Dependable all-weather access across undeveloped land to prevent programme delays.
  • Adaptable roads that can be easily repositioned as work progresses between boreholes and trial pits.

Our aluminium roadway panels are engineered for heavy loads, with cross-serrated surfaces for traction and a heavy-duty reverse for larger vehicles.

Temporary Pedestrian Walkways

  • Safe, designated footpaths for geotechnical teams navigating remote or hazardous development sites.
  • Anti-slip, mud-free surfaces to ensure clean and secure access to testing locations.
  • Clear pedestrian routes separating site workers from heavy plant and excavators.

By turning panels to the textured side where needed, we create safe, non-slip walking surfaces that still protect the ground underneath.

Ground Protection Trackway Systems

  • Surface shielding for sensitive grassland and farmland during trial pit excavations.
  • Heavy load distribution for loaders, excavators and telehandlers.
  • Preservation of natural environments before permanent infrastructure or access roads are built.

By distributing heavy vehicle and machinery loads evenly across a larger surface area, our load-bearing panels minimise ground pressure to prevent rutting and preserve sensitive terrain.

Temporary Site Access

  • Dependable off-road access to isolated sampling and testing locations across challenging terrain.
  • Robust build platforms to support complex drilling operations on soft or wet ground.
  • Specialist panel delivery to deeply remote areas, ensuring you reach every investigation point safely.

If your venue includes Sites of Special Scientific Interest, historic driveways or other sensitive areas, we’ll design routes that minimise impact while still giving you the access you need.

How it works

A clear, managed approach from our team of trackway experts

01

Free site survey

We walk the site with you, calculate your required parking capacity, map out traffic flows, and assess ground conditions, gradients, gateways, and overhead services.

02

Bespoke plan and quote

You receive a detailed site plan showing recommended driving lanes and parking layouts, an accurate panel count, risk assessments, method statements, and a transparent quotation.

03

Installation by trained crews

Our operators arrive with specialist vehicles, unload the panels, and lay each one methodically, bolting them into place and configuring surfaces where extra grip or vehicle traction is needed.

04

On-site flexibility

If your parking footprint needs to expand due to weather changes or altered project timelines during installation, we adapt on site and only charge for the panels actually deployed.

05

Removal and reinstatement

Once your hire period is complete, we return to lift the panels cleanly, remove all equipment, and hand the site back to you with minimal ground disturbance and no messy clean-ups.
